In Nova Scotia, anyone who wants to buy timber for personal use with a value less than $200 from Crown lands must have a Letter of Authority from the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources. The waiting period for the application process is 80 days. Once you have the permit, it is valid for up to 3 weeks for fuelwood, and up to 2 months for specialty products.
Please let it be noted that the Letter of Authority is not available in all areas of the Province of Nova Scotia.
